Gyeonggi Academy of Foreign Languages (GAFL), located in Uiwang, successfully hosted a two-day IB (International Baccalaureate) professional learning workshop from June 19 to 20 at Midas Hotel & Resort in Gapyeong. The event attracted strong interest from educators across Korea.
Co-hosted by the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, the workshop brought together more than 80 participants, including teachers from IB candidate schools and schools exploring IB implementation throughout Gyeonggi Province, as well as educators from Chungcheongbuk-do and other education professionals. Participants gathered to exchange ideas on the future of education and share effective practices in IB teaching, learning, and assessment.
More than a conventional professional development program, the workshop served as an opportunity for GAFL to share the expertise it has built as one of Korea's pioneers in implementing the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) in the public education sector. By opening its experience to educators from across the country, GAFL further demonstrated its role as a leading institution in advancing IB education in Korea.
Throughout the workshop, participants explored practical strategies for applying the IB educational philosophy to classroom teaching and assessment. They engaged in discussions on inquiry-based learning, student-centered instruction, and assessment for learning while observing how these key principles of future-ready education are implemented in authentic school settings.
