Hello, this is the Chinese Department of Gyeonggi Academy of Foreign Languages.
In the 12th Korean University and Elementary-Middle-High School Calligraphy Contest, Jin Yoojeong, a 3rd grade student, and Noh Yujin, a 2nd grade student from the Chinese Department, received honorable mentions in the middle and high school division.
Student Jin Yoojeong expressed her personal belief and aspirations for her dream university by writing “行胜于言 (Actions speak louder than words),” which is also the motto of Tsinghua University, in seal script style. Student Noh Yujin demonstrated her passion by writing an excerpt from Chinese poet Li Bai’s poem “Departing from Baidi City in the Morning (早发白帝城)” in regular script style, conveying her determination to focus on the present rather than dwelling on the past.
Both students received honorable mentions (Director’s Award from the Seoul Confucius Academy) and earned high praise despite this being their first competition entry.
This contest was organized by the Seoul Confucius Academy and sponsored by nine institutions including the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of China, the Chinese Embassy in Korea, HSK Korea Office, and the Korean Chinese Teachers’ Association. Among elementary, middle, high school, and university students from across Korea who competed with diverse calligraphy styles and works, these meaningful achievements were made possible through the teacher’s meticulous guidance and the students’ consistent effort.
Gyeonggi Academy of Foreign Languages will continue to actively support and encourage students as they take on diverse challenges and grow through these experiences. Congratulations once again on this wonderful achievement!
